Internet Week New York 2010

Dates:
6/7/2010 - 6/14/2010
Location:
New York, NY

Leading companies — including presenting sponsor PepsiCo —come together in an unprecedented effort to each make their commitment to society and the planet.

#Promise Conference

Together with ThinkSocial, PepsiCo kicks off the #Promise, an initiative that explores how social and mobile media are empowering corporate citizenship and creating social change.

At the event, PepsiCo is joined by GE, Nokia, MTV and Timberland, with each making an important corporate #Promise to improve the world and then defining how social media helps further their goals.

These #Promises are objectives that have meaningful and measurable business and social dimensions, and leverage digital media.  Each presenter discusses specific strategies that have allowed their organization to leverage the collaborative new media environment toward achieving their objectives.

The day’s discussions are being curated by the TED Conference, GOOD and Fast Company—all amazing conduits of fresh ideas.

Universal Purpose Code | Stickybits

At Internet Week NY 2010, PepsiCo explores a new initiative to communicate with consumers through its products.

By exploring how a Universal Product has the potential to be a “Universal Purpose Code,” PepsiCo believes there is an opportunity to deliver to consumers the information that matters to them, while creating a two-way dialogue between PepsiCo and consumers.

PepsiCo is partnering with Stickybits, a start-up technology company that brings digital content to real-world objects through barcode scanning to conduct this pilot during Internet Week.

How to Get Involved

  • Download the Stickybits app on your iPhone or Android-based phone
  • Scan the barcode on a PepsiCo product
  • View videos and links about the social impact of the brand and the company
  • Upload your own videos, photos, links and comments about PepsiCo, its products and their social and environmental impact

Check out PepsiCo’s discussion among its council of leaders in social responsibility and social media as they explore the potential of the Universal Purpose Code concept on our Performance Notes blog.
