The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans with the support of their network of 300 affiliated community based organizations, which reach 41 states. The NCLR Annual Conference has consistently been the gathering location for Latino leaders, influencers, business leaders, elected officials, and community organizers in the country, and provides the ultimate opportunity to learn about current issues in education, health, workforce development, youth leadership, nonprofit management, policy updates, and other topics that impact not only Latinos but all American communities.
During the 2012 Conference, PepsiCo is sponsoring the NCLR National Affiliate Luncheon in recognition of the local community-based organizations that are crucial to NCLR’s work. Jaime Montemayor, SVP and CIO, Frito-Lay North America, will participate as a speaker and talk about PepsiCo’s contributions to the advancement of education and leadership within Latino communities across the nation.
PepsiCo is a long-time contributor to NCLR and its Escalera program that focuses on increasing high school graduation and college attendance rates of Latinos. This year PepsiCo is the presenting sponsor of the NCLR ALMA Awards.
