PepsiCo addresses HIV/AIDS in the community through three key initiatives:
Simba provides peer counselor training for employees at the workplace, on company time and with company support. Those employees are then actively encouraged to educate their families and members of the community.
In recognition of the toll that HIV/AIDS and related disease has taken on families, Simba has chosen to focus its charitable contributions on the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, a project that reaches out to impoverished children and supports orphanages. Through the PepsiCo Foundation Matching Gifts Program, PepsiCo matches employee donations to a variety of groups working to combat HIV/AIDS.
Chicago House has served over one thousand homeless Chicagoans living with HIV and has continuously evolved to meet the changing realities of the disease. In the beginning, Chicago House provided end-of-life care but today, thanks to medications that help people live longer lives, the agency helps men, women, and children affected by AIDS build lives of health and hope.
