PepsiCo Policy and Initiatives on HIV/AIDS
PepsiCo is among those companies that have responded to HIV/AIDS and recognized that business must do its part to help fight this pandemic. By addressing HIV/AIDS we believe we can contribute to the sustainability of our business operations, especially the health and welfare of our employees.
Since 2002, PepsiCo’s South Africa snack food operation, Simba, has had a formal
HIV/AIDS policy. That same year, PepsiCo became a member of the Global
Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC), a not-for-profit group dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS and related
diseases by providing information, counsel and sharing best practices.

PepsiCo established an internal task force on HIV/AIDS to gather data as well
as to monitor and respond to issues related to the disease. The taskforce identified
four priority countries where there is high or rising prevalence and where we
have major operations: South Africa, India, China and Russia. Those four countries
are the primary focus of PepsiCo’s efforts to fight HIV/AIDS, although
work is also being done in a number of other countries, such as Thailand and
Mexico.
This report covers the known impact of HIV/AIDS on our businesses in the priority countries, the PepsiCo Worldwide HIV/AIDS policy, HIV/AIDS programs in the priority countries, and our community and public response.
