As a global company, we work in countries with a broad array of laws and regulations. But regardless of where we operate, we take care to respect the diversity, talents and abilities of all.

Recruiting a Diverse Workforce
PepsiCo’s U.S. on-campus recruiting program takes a particular interest in bringing diverse talent to PepsiCo and has yielded outstanding results. In 2013, 63 percent of new hires resulting from college campus recruiting were of people from diverse backgrounds.

PepsiCo is also a lead sponsor of the following diversity recruiting conferences: The Consortium; Management Leadership for Tomorrow; Reaching Out MBA; National Black MBA; Enactus and LIMEConnect. Each of these organizations provides PepsiCo an excellent opportunity to recruit the best talent in each graduating class.

On campuses around the United States, we are heavily involved with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and the Society for Women Engineers (SWE), as well as a number of local student organizations.

Our goal, each and every day, is to create a workplace in which our associates, with all of their unique characteristics, can “bring their whole selves to work.”

The Pinnacle Group

The Pinnacle Group, launched in 2011 in the United States, is a strong example of our efforts to grow the number of female leaders. The organization was created as a way to increase retention of PepsiCo female sales talent, and strengthen and diversify our future leadership pipeline.

The program selects female sales associates with strong performance records and provides them with career development, leadership training and mentoring opportunities with senior sales leaders.

In three years, the Pinnacle Group has led to an increase in the number of women and retention of the best talent in sales.

In Belén de Umbriá, Colombia, job opportunities for women heads of households, including single mothers, are not easy to come by -- especially jobs that can support the needs of a family. Promoting Women in Asia, the Middle East and Africa (AMEA)
In 2013, PepsiCo AMEA advanced our commitment to increasing female participation in the workforce by enabling more gender-diverse candidate slating, strengthening our reporting and, nurturing a culture of gender awareness and inclusion. These actions have resulted in female representation across the entire AMEA sector.

  • Women in the China region alone make up 49 percent of our executives and 53 percent of the total workforce, and in 2013, PepsiCo AMEA hired more than 100 frontline women in Saudi Arabia.
  • AMEA strengthened capabilities and supported talent by launching Gender Intelligence Workshops, safety programs, fortitude workshops and more. We also supported education programs that inspire confidence and change in young girls.
  • PepsiCo Asia Pacific had approximately 39 percent executive female representation in 2013, up from 26 percent in 2009.
  • As a result of our unified commitment, AMEA’s executive female representation increased to 28 percent.

PepsiCo’s outstanding record of hiring U.S. military veterans earned us a top 25 ranking for the second consecutive year in the G.I. Jobs ranking of Top 100 Military Friendly Employers in 2013. PepsiCo is the only food and beverage company in the top 50 companies in this prestigious ranking.

In 2013, online jobs clearinghouse Bright.com ranked PepsiCo number one among Fortune 50 companies in “most veterans hired” as a percentage of their workforce.

From 2010 through 2013, the PepsiCo's recycling program provided $1.5 million to support the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV). Through its partnership with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, PepsiCo has helped many veterans receive valuable training in entrepreneurship and small business management so they can build their own business and pursue their dreams.

Every bottle and can recycled in a PepsiCo bin makes it possible for the company to donate funds to the EBV. Over 4.3 million pounds of recycled bottles and cans have been collected via PepsiCo Recycling to support the EBV.

In markets around the world, PepsiCo is committed to providing individuals with disabilities with equal opportunity and treatment.

In Colombia, for example, PepsiCo implemented “Growing Together, a Journey with Our Hearing-Impaired Team,” an innovative program developed with the help of 40 hearing-impaired associates who developed solutions for their own needs, offering ongoing sign language training for associates, executive forums, and new partnerships with institutions that will allow training, certification and opportunities for hearing-impaired associates.

Developing a Diverse Supplier Base
PepsiCo’s commitment to diversity extends to the development of new suppliers to our company. Through our Supplier Diversity Program, started more than 30 years ago, PepsiCo creates opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses through an annual spend of approximately $1.3 billion.

The program includes direct purchases from minority- and women-owned businesses, engagement of non-diverse primary suppliers, and active involvement and leadership of PepsiCo executives in various organizations like the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), Women Business National Enterprise Council (WBENC), U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) and the U.S. Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC).

In 2014, PepsiCo was named Outstanding Corporation of the Year by the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO) for our commitment to supplier diversity.

Our Harvey C. Russell Global Inclusion Awards annually honor PepsiCo associates for advancing diversity and inclusion within our company. In 2013, PepsiCo honored 76 associates from our business across the world.

The Harvey C. Russell Inclusion Award reflects Russell's leadership, perseverance and commitment to continuous improvement, along with his key role in helping create the foundation upon which PepsiCo's diversity initiative is built. In 2013, 76 recipients were honored for their outstanding achievements in diversity and inclusion.

The Global Steve Reinemund Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Legacy Award recognizes PepsiCo senior staff who model exemplary leadership and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Award recipients inspire and move PepsiCo to new levels of achievement in diversity and inclusion through their words and actions.


PepsiCo’s Global Anti-Harassment Anti-Discrimination Policy sets forth a zero-tolerance policy toward any type of harassment or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability or veteran status, or any other protected category under applicable law.

This includes harassment by other employees and third persons encountered at work, including customers, visitors or vendors of PepsiCo. The policy provides additional information to define harassing conduct to ensure that all associates understand the ground rules.
