Dale Earnhardt Jr. asked DEW Crew members in May to vote for one of four paint schemes inspired by “The Dark Knight Rises,” the third installment in the Batman series, to appear on his No. 88 Chevrolet this season. On Sunday, June 17, Earnhardt will debut the winning design at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich. Watch the race on TNT at 1 p.m. Eastern.
Earnhardt took the special Diet Mountain Dew/“The Dark Knight Rises”-inspired car for a few laps this week, and tested the two-mile track before going alongside Batman’s “Tumbler” during demonstration laps around the speedway.
“I’m excited to finally get the No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew/‘The Dark Knight Rises’-inspired Chevrolet out on the track,” Earnhardt said. “And it was cool to draft with the Dark Knight Tumbler.”
More Mountain Dew and Dark Knight promotions are on the way. Rolling out next week is a new limited-time-only flavor -- Mtn Dew Dark Berry -- and 16-ounce cans of DEW that use thermochromic ink to feature a "Bat Symbol" that transforms to the distinctive green color of DEW when chilled. Fans can also go to facebook.com/mountaindew to enter for a chance to win tickets to the film’s July 16 premiere in New York City, and follow @mtn_dew on Twitter.
