Yesterday, Feb. 2, Gatorade announced Carolina Panthers’ superstar quarterback Cam Newton as its newest roster athlete. Cam, a former Heisman trophy winner, first overall National Football League (NFL) draft pick and 2012 All-Pro selection, joins Gatorade's roster of the world's most elite athletes who work with the brand to educate athletes on the importance of sports nutrition.
Cam’s multi-year agreement has him joining Peyton and Eli Manning as Gatorade football athletes. As one of the NFL’s most promising young stars, Gatorade will look to work with Cam to fine tune his nutrition plan to identify ways in which he can improve his on-field performance through proper sports fueling and training.
The announcement was made from Indianapolis as Cam was in town to meet with the Gatorade Sports Science Institute at its mobile installation stationed in the Super Bowl XLVI media center. Cam will also be featured in upcoming Gatorade brand campaigns including TV, print and digital advertising. Gatorade has worked with NFL teams since 1969 and has been an official partner of the NFL since 1983. It recently entered a new multi-year partnership securing Gatorade on the sidelines of every NFL game through 2022.
