Good Warrior: A scalable new food brand and platform
A four-lens approach to transformative product innovation
Rethinking protein
People are increasingly looking to add protein to their diets. Many on-the-go options target athletic performance, with products that are functional but forgettable. We’re reframing the category around everyday enjoyment and busy lifestyles.
A new breakframe approach
Rather than starting with a predetermined product or manufacturing capability, the team studied the category to see what human-centric needs, food demand moments and occasions could be improved. We then looked at what technical solutions we might use to give consumers a better experience, like taste, texture, flavor and opportunities that could deliver against the determined profitable business potential.
Making it tangible
We collaborated with PepsiCo’s end-to-end (E2E) partners to accelerate identified territories across propositions, brand worlds, product experiences, packaging and portfolio scenarios. Rapid samples and prototypes became decision tools: we could see, taste, compare and learn together. Concepts were tested against the four lenses, exposing trade-offs early and helping the strongest answers emerge before commitment.
A flexible brand system
The brand was designed to flex as an adaptable system. We realized that Good Warrior products might live in different aisles of the store, so the brand needed to function across categories. Crafting a unique brand visual system, with distinctive patterns, bold color, high- impact photography and a clear messaging hierarchy, all anchored by a portfolio architecture built to scale without losing cohesion.
Not a product, a pipeline
At its core, Good Warrior is built on food with protein that supports busy people through everyday life. What began as a launch project has evolved into a governed platform designed to scale future innovation.
An innovation template
Good Warrior became more than a launch. It showed that when the organization focuses on improving human centered tensions, tests ideas early and designs a brand, product, portfolio and commercial plan together, it can create both a new brand and a repeat model for future innovation.
