PURCHASE, N.Y. (May 27, 2026) – Mountain Dew® Baja Blast® just gave fans exactly what they didn’t know they needed: a machete-wielding Danny Trejo, a monkey, and a remix of a ‘90s bop. Mountain Dew Baja Blast and creative agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P) recently unveiled “Have a Baja Blast,” a bold new 30-second spot that poses a ridiculous question: would you let Danny Trejo chop the top off your Baja Blast with his machete?
The commercial drops viewers into “Baja Beach” – a sun-drenched tropical paradise where 20oz bottles of Baja Blast grow straight from palm trees. It’s 30 seconds of pure, unserious fun, scored to a Baja-style remix of the ‘90s classic “No More I Love You’s” and directed by Emmy-nominated sketch writer and director Dan Opsal.
Danny Trejo – Hollywood’s ultimate tough guy – reprises the spirit of his iconic Machete character for the spot, machete in hand. But instead of a gritty action sequence, Trejo’s mission is simple: chop the tops off Mountain Dew Baja Blast bottles and enjoy the refreshing, tropical lime flavor that has made it a fan-favorite for more than two decades.
“With ‘Have a Baja Blast,’ we wanted to create something that feels as fun and refreshing as the drink itself,” said Michael Smith, VP of Marketing for Mountain Dew, PepsiCo Beverages U.S. “Bringing Danny Trejo and his machete into this wildly imaginative Baja Beach world allowed us to lean into the kind of unforgettable storytelling that keeps fans coming back for more.”
“Have a Baja Blast” builds on a breakthrough year for Mountain Dew Baja Blast after becoming the official soft drink of the 2026 Major League Baseball season and launching the “Get a Baja for a Blast” product reward promotion, giving fans nationwide the opportunity to unlock a free Mountain Dew Baja Blast for home runs that travel 420 or more during the regular MLB season. “Have a Baja Blast” is airing now across national linear television, streaming platforms, and social media channels. For more information, follow along @MountainDew.
